Lavender 'French' (Lavandula dentata)

Lavender 'French' (Lavandula dentata) is a fragrant, evergreen shrub that is widely appreciated for its aromatic purple flowers and silvery-grey foliage. Native to the Mediterranean, this lavender variety is well-suited to New Zealand’s climate, particularly in areas with full sun and well-drained soil. It is a hardy plant that thrives in dry, coastal gardens, offering both ornamental beauty and a calming fragrance.

Growing to a height of around 45–60 cm with a spread of approximately 60–90 cm, Lavender 'French' makes a lovely addition to herb gardens, borders, or as a low hedge. It is a popular choice for attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.
