An elegant species, Fritillaria pontica is a rare and beautiful addition to the spring garden. Its nodding, bell-shaped flowers are a soft greenish-yellow, delicately brushed with warm bronze or maroon at the tips. Standing 30-40cm tall, the slender stems carry lush, lance-shaped foliage, creating a graceful yet understated display.

Native to the woodlands and meadows of the Balkans and Turkey, Fritillaria pontica thrives in rich, well-draining soil with dappled shade. Its subtle charm makes it perfect for naturalising in woodland borders or mixed perennial plantings. It offers a distinctive alternative to more common spring bulbs.

Height: 30-40cm
Flowering Time: Mid to late spring Best For: Woodland gardens, shaded borders, naturalistic planting
