A dramatic yet elegant biennial or short-lived perennial, ‘Alba’ forms a towering spire of pure white, starry bellflowers in summer. The upright flower spikes can reach up to 1.5–2 m tall, rising above a neat rosette of soft green foliage.

This plant adds a striking vertical accent to borders or cottage gardens and will self-sow gently in the right spot.

Growing conditions:

Full sun to light shade

Prefers fertile, well-drained soil

Needs support in windy sites

Hardy throughout NZ

Uses: vertical interest, romantic garden styles, back of borders.

Makes a lovely cut flower for tall vases — harvest when lower blooms begin to open.
