A compact and rarely cultivated succulent, Erepsia pillansii forms low, spreading mounds of grey-green fleshy leaves that serve as a backdrop to its standout feature: luminous, daisy-like flowers in white or pale yellow that appear reliably in sunlit weather. The blooms are surprisingly prominent for a small succulent, opening wide in full sun and bringing brightness to rock gardens and containers.Native to South Africa’s arid regions, this species thrives in warm, dry sites with excellent drainage. Though it will not tolerate hard frosts, it performs well in warmer areas of New Zealand or when grown in pots that can be sheltered in winter.
Growing Conditions:
Full sun to light shade. Requires sharply drained, sandy or gritty soil. Frost tender — best in pots or warm, sheltered locations.
Uses:
Excellent for rock gardens, dry borders, containers, and succulent collections. Loved for its showy flowers and tidy habit.
