A graceful white-flowered form of the alpine wallflower, Erysimum alpinum ‘Snow’ brings soft elegance to rock gardens, scree beds, and alpine troughs. Its pure white blooms appear in clusters above slender grey-green foliage in late spring, offering a cool, luminous contrast among bolder-coloured companions. Compact and tidy in habit, it thrives in tough, free-draining spots and can gently self-seed in favourable conditions.Forms a compact mound 30–40 cm tall and 25–30 cm wide. Flowers late spring to early summer.
Origin: Derived from Erysimum alpinum, native to alpine regions of central and southern Europe.
Growing Conditions:
• Full sun
• Gravelly, free-draining soil
• Drought tolerant once established
• Cold hardy; suitable for NZ alpine and cooler southern regions
Uses:
• Excellent for alpine troughs, rockeries, and gravel gardens
• Offers soft contrast in mixed plantings
• Not typically used for cutting, but valued for seasonal garden interest
