Salvia nemorosa ‘White’ offers a luminous contrast in the garden, with upright spikes of crisp white flowers rising above clumps of aromatic, textured foliage. Blooming steadily from early summer into autumn in NZ, this hardy perennial is both drought tolerant and a magnet for pollinators, particularly bees.
Native to Europe and western Asia, it performs well in full sun, free-draining soil, and is frost hardy. Though usually evergreen in mild areas, it may become semi-deciduous in colder conditions.
Interestingly, its square stems and minty scent are classic hallmarks of the mint family, Lamiaceae.
Grows to approximately 40–60 cm tall, with a spread of 30–45 cm.
Growing conditions:
• Prefers full sun
• Well-drained soil
• Frost hardy
Uses:
• Ideal for borders, containers, or mass plantings
