Veronica longifolia ‘Blue Shades’ brings soft movement and quiet charm to the summer garden. Slender spires of violet-blue flowers rise above tidy mounds of lance-shaped foliage from early to late summer, offering a continuous source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. The vertical lines pair beautifully with more rounded blooms in mixed borders, where its graceful form adds light structure without ever feeling rigid.

This clump-forming perennial reaches 80–100 cm in height and spreads to 40–60 cm. It prefers a sunny to lightly shaded position in moist, well-drained soil and is fully frost hardy, thriving reliably across diverse New Zealand garden settings. The long-stemmed flower spikes are also excellent for cutting, holding well in fresh arrangements.
