Camassia leichtlinii ‘Alba’
$17.50
Camassia leichtlinii 'Alba' is a tall, elegant bulbous perennial that sends up starry white flower spikes in mid to late spring, providing a fresh vertical accent just as many spring bulbs are fading. The pure white flowers open gradually up the stem, giving a long flowering window and making it a lovely bridge between spring and early summer in perennial borders and wildflower-style plantings
This North American native thrives in moisture-retentive, well-drained soils and copes well with heavy or clay-based ground-unusual among bulbs. It prefers full sun or part shade and naturalises reliably when left undisturbed. After flowering, the strap-like green foliage dies back completely in early summer, as the plant enters dormancy. The bulbs multiply slowly over time, forming elegant clumps. Camassia is a traditional food plant in indigenous North American culture.
