The Japanese raisin tree (Hovenia dulcis) is a deciduous tree native to East Asia, including Japan, China, and Korea. It is grown for its distinctive fruit and attractive, spreading foliage. The tree produces small, inconspicuous flowers in summer, followed by large clusters of raisin-like fruits, which are actually swollen petioles (stalks), not true fruit.
