Selinum wallichianum

$16.70

Quantity

A graceful, aromatic perennial from the Himalayas, Selinum wallichianum forms soft mounds of finely divided, fern-like foliage topped with airy umbels of creamy-white flowers through late summer to early autumn. The foliage has a delicate, lace-like texture that moves beautifully in the breeze, adding lightness and contrast to more solid garden plantings. It is deciduous, dying back cleanly in winter.

This member of the carrot family (Apiaceae) prefers moist, fertile, free draining soil and does well in full sun to partial shade. It is ideal for meadow plantings, mixed borders, and naturalistic or woodland-edge gardens.

In traditional Himalayan herbal medicine, Selinum wallichianum has been valued for its aromatic roots, which were sometimes used for scent and tonics.

Growing Conditions
Prefers humus-rich, moisture but free draining soil in sun or part shade. Frost hardy.

Height 1 to 1.5m

Uses
Excellent for softening borders, pairing with late-summer perennials like Veronicastrum, Eupatorium, and Sanguisorba. The finely textured foliage provides a feathery backdrop for bolder flowers.
