Out of stock

Prunella grandiflora is a resilient, ground-hugging, easy to grow perennial that produces spikes of soft pink, two-lipped flowers from late spring into summer. The blooms rise above low mats of deep green, ovate foliage, creating a gentle yet appealing display that draws in bees and other pollinators. Native to Europe and parts of western Asia, this species is traditionally known for its medicinal use, earning the name “self-heal.” It is excellent for edging, underplanting, or naturalising in meadows and cottage gardens. Tolerant of a wide range of conditions, including poor soils and light shade, it spreads slowly but steadily to form a soft carpet of colour and texture.

Height: Grows to around 15–30 cm tall, with a spread of 30–45 cm.
Deciduous: No
Flowering period: Late spring to mid summer.
Country of origin: Europe and western Asia.

Growing conditions: Prefers full sun to part shade and well-drained soil. Frost hardy and tolerates drought once established.

Uses: Great for low borders, ground cover, underplanting roses or taller perennials, and attracting pollinators.
