Francoa sonchifolia, sometimes called Bridal Wreath, is an elegant clump-forming perennial from Chile, valued for its slender wands of soft pink flowers that rise gracefully above broad, crinkled green leaves. Blooming from mid to late summer, each flower spike is dotted with small, five-petalled blooms that are lightly veined and often marked with a deeper pink centre, creating a delicate, lacy effect. The lush basal foliage remains evergreen, giving year-round structure to garden beds. It prefers moist but well-drained soil and partial shade, though it can tolerate full sun if not too dry. Francoa is particularly well suited to woodland borders, cottage gardens, and sheltered spots where its subtle charm can shine. Though not widely grown, its tidy habit and extended flowering make it a rewarding and low-maintenance choice.
