Allium senescens subsp. montanum, Mountain Garlic, is a delightful ornamental onion that forms neat clumps of blue-green foliage topped by a brilliant display of rounded soft lilac-pink flowers in late summer. Native to the dry grasslands and rocky slopes of Europe and Asia, it is exceptionally hardy and tolerant of drought once established. The flowers are rich in nectar and attract a steady stream of bees and other pollinators at a time when many other perennials are beginning to fade. Plants are low growing and perfect for edging a dry sunny border. Height 20-30 cm.
