Dicentra cucullaria Pink

Dicentra cucullaria, commonly known as Dutchman's Breeches, is a delightful woodland perennial producing unique white flowers that resemble tiny pairs of trousers hanging from arching stems. Flowering in early to mid-spring, the blooms rise above finely divided blue-green foliage before the plant retreats underground as summer approaches. Native to eastern North American woodlands, it thrives in rich, moisture-retentive soils beneath deciduous trees where it enjoys spring sunlight and summer shade. Its fleeting seasonal appearance is part of its charm, emerging, flowering, and disappearing before the heat of summer arrives. Height 20–30 cm.
