Ligularia przewalskii is a bold, architectural perennial prized for its dramatic foliage and towering spires of golden-yellow flowers. Deeply divided, jagged leaves form a handsome clump from which slender flower spikes rise in early to mid-summer, often reaching well above head height. Native to damp mountain regions of northern China, it thrives in moisture-retentive soil and brings a strong vertical accent to woodland gardens and shaded borders. The flowers attract bees and other pollinators, while the foliage provides a striking contrast to finer-textured shade plants. It performs best where the soil remains consistently moist and is particularly effective near ponds or streams.
