Euphorbia characias spp. wulfenii

One of the most dramatic foliage plants for dry gardens, Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii forms large evergreen mounds of blue-grey foliage topped in spring with towering lime-green flower heads. Native to the Mediterranean region, it thrives in sunny, free-draining conditions and is exceptionally drought tolerant once established. The luminous flower bracts remain attractive for many weeks and pair beautifully with purple, blue, and silver-toned plants. Its bold structure provides year-round interest and acts as a focal point even when not in bloom. As with all euphorbias, the milky sap can irritate skin and eyes.
