Eriocapitella japonica Pink

Out of stock
Soft pink, semi-double flowers with golden centres on airy stems from late summer well into autumn, reaching approximately 80–120 cm tall. Commonly known as Japanese anemone, this very frost-hardy, deciduous perennial is exceptionally tough and spreads vigorously through underground runners. Once established, it can travel well beyond its original planting position, so it is best used where a large colony is wanted or where its roots can be contained. Despite its name, this old garden form originated in China and was collected from a Shanghai cemetery before entering European cultivation.
Growing Conditions
Grows in full sun, partial shade or fairly heavy shade and tolerates most ordinary garden soils, including clay. Water while establishing; after that, it generally looks after itself. Avoid only permanently waterlogged ground. Use a root barrier or plant somewhere its vigorous spread will not become a problem.
Uses
Best for large borders, banks, woodland edges, difficult areas and places where a vigorous, weed-suppressing colony is wanted. Not recommended for small gardens or beside delicate plants.
