Silene uniflora ‘Swan Lake’

Fully double, creamy-white flowers resembling tiny powder puffs are produced over a spreading cushion of blue-green foliage from late spring through summer and often well into autumn. ‘Swan Lake’ is a floriferous double form of sea campion, a coastal plant native to the rocky shores and cliffs of northern and western Europe. That seaside ancestry gives it excellent tolerance of wind, salt and lean, stony ground. This frost-hardy, evergreen perennial forms trailing stems that spill beautifully over edges, although excellent drainage is essential to keep it healthy through winter. Height 15–25 cm, with stems trailing 40–60 cm.
Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun in sandy, gravelly or otherwise freely draining soil. It tolerates dry conditions once established but dislikes heavy, waterlogged ground. Trim lightly after a major flowering flush to maintain a dense habit. Plants can occasionally be short-lived in damp conditions but are easily renewed from cuttings.
Uses
Ideal for rockeries, raised beds, stone walls, troughs, hanging baskets, coastal gardens and containers where the stems can cascade over the edge.
