Verbena bonariensis ‘Vanity’
$16.90
Out of stock
Concentrated clusters of intense purple-blue flowers are carried on slender, well-branched stems from midsummer until the first hard autumn frosts. ‘Vanity’ retains the airy movement and South American character of traditional Verbena bonariensis while remaining around half its height, making it far easier to use in smaller gardens and containers. Its compact habit and deeper flower colour earned it both a Fleuroselect Gold Medal and an All-America Selections award. This frost-hardy, deciduous perennial is a favourite with bees and butterflies, and its strong stems also make useful, long-lasting cut flowers. Height 70–80 cm.
Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun in average to fertile, freely draining soil. Water while establishing; mature plants tolerate moderate drought. Cut dead stems back after winter or leave some seed heads standing to encourage self-seeding. Avoid persistently wet winter ground.
Uses
Excellent for mixed borders, smaller gardens, large containers, mass planting, pollinator gardens and cut-flower arrangements.
