Warm yellow, double flowers with gracefully reflexed petals provide a generous display from late summer deep into autumn. Growing approximately 70 cm tall and 50 cm wide, ‘Folk Song’ forms a bushy clump with the familiar aromatic foliage of traditional garden chrysanthemums. Its reflexing flower form, in which the petals curve downwards and outwards, has made it a recognised exhibition cultivar and a particularly popular example of its class among New Zealand chrysanthemum growers. This frost-hardy, deciduous perennial is also an excellent cut flower, producing sturdy stems and long-lasting blooms for autumn arrangements.
Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun in fertile, freely draining soil enriched with compost. Water during dry periods, particularly while flowering. Pinch the growing tips in late spring or early summer to create a bushier plant, and provide support if needed. Cut the dead stems back in late winter.
Uses
Excellent for autumn borders, cottage gardens, dedicated chrysanthemum beds and long-lasting cut-flower arrangements.
