Campanula glomerata

Dense heads of deep violet-blue bells are carried on upright stems above a spreading clump of dark green foliage through early and midsummer. Growing approximately 40–50 cm tall, this vigorous bellflower is native across Europe and western Asia, where it occurs through grasslands, open woodland and rocky places. Its botanical name glomerata means clustered, describing the tightly packed flower heads that distinguish it from bellflowers with individual blooms. This very frost-hardy, deciduous perennial spreads through underground rhizomes and gradually forms a broad, colourful colony.
Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in average to fertile, moist but freely draining soil. It tolerates a range of soil types, including clay and chalk. Deadhead after flowering to encourage tidier growth and reduce self-seeding. Divide or contain the clump if its spread needs controlling.
Uses
Ideal for cottage gardens, mixed borders, woodland edges, banks, informal groundcover and pollinator-friendly planting.
