Boltonia asteroides var. latisquama ‘Nana’

Masses of small, pinkish-lilac daisies with golden centres create a soft cloud of colour from late summer into autumn. ‘Nana’ is a compact form of the North American false aster, growing approximately 70–90 cm tall rather than the 1.5 m or more reached by taller forms, while var. latisquama is valued for its larger flowers. Its fine, branching stems and narrow leaves give it an airy appearance without overwhelming neighbouring plants. This very frost-hardy, deciduous perennial is highly attractive to bees and butterflies, and its branching stems make an excellent, long-lasting cut flower.
Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun or light partial shade in average to fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It tolerates heavier soils but may require support if grown in rich ground or too much shade. Pinching the stems in early summer encourages bushier, more compact growth.
Uses
Ideal for mixed borders, meadow-style planting, pollinator gardens and late-season cut-flower production.
