Lavender 'Angustifolia' (Lavandula angustifolia), also known as English lavender, is a highly popular perennial known for its fragrant purple spikes and narrow, silvery-green leaves. Native to the Mediterranean region, it’s well-suited to New Zealand's sunny gardens, thriving in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight. Its compact, bushy growth makes it ideal for both ornamental planting and culinary use.Lavender 'Angustifolia' is the most commonly used variety in the production of lavender oil, prized for its high-quality fragrance and therapeutic properties.
It typically grows to a height of 60 cm, with a spread of around 40–60 cm. It is often used in gardens for its attractive flowers and pleasant scent, which also makes it a natural choice for attracting pollinators like bees.
