Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Passion’

Large flower heads packed with double, starry florets create a richly textured display from summer into autumn. Each individual flower resembles a miniature rose, while the heads begin with an open lacecap appearance before gradually filling into a rounded mophead. Part of the Japanese-bred You & Me series, ‘Passion’ forms a compact, deciduous shrub approximately 1–1.2 m tall and wide. Its flowers develop rich pink colouring in neutral to alkaline soil and smoky blue to mauve tones where acidic conditions and available aluminium allow. The long-lasting blooms are excellent for both fresh and dried arrangements.

Growing Conditions
Plant in morning sun or partial shade in rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Water regularly through summer and protect from harsh afternoon sun and drying winds. Frost hardy once established, although late frosts may damage new growth and flower buds. Prune lightly after flowering rather than cutting hard.
